South Side Promise
Today is a new day.
I will act in a safe and healthy way.
I will respect the rights of others.
I will treat all property with respect.
I will take responsibility for my learning.
Today I will be the best me I can be!
Our rules and expectations in 2nd grade are based on the South Side Promise. We expect students to make safe choices. To keep his/her hands off of others and the property of others. We expect students to come prepared each day with homework and supplies. We expect ALL students to show responsibility and self-control.
On occasion students will need to be reminded of our expectations. Below is the behavior policy we follow in 2nd grade.
A copy of the 2nd grade discipline plan will come home in your folder. This is an abbreviated version that will be readily available for your reference. Your child will bring home a “Parent/Teacher Communicator” in his/her folder each night. It will have homework assignments and behavior recorded on it. At the bottom of the communicator, there is a box with letter “codes”. These codes will be listed in the behavior column so that you will be aware of any problems throughout the day. The code placement will indicate which class the offense occurred in. If a student chooses to not adhere to the rules and procedures of our classrooms, the results are as follows:
1st offense: Warning. No consequences. Will receive a sticker/stamp on communicator.
2nd offense: No sticker/stamp. 3 laps of reflective walking during recess..
3rd offense: No sticker/stamp. 5 laps of reflective walking and silent lunch
4th offense: No sticker/stamp. reflective walking for ALL of recess, silent lunch, and call to parents.
Extreme behavior will result in immediate referral to Dr. Littleford!
Students will receive a check mark each day they get a sticker/stamp. If they get 5 stickers in a week, they will spin the prize wheel on Friday. Students who are absent or have excessive tardies will not be eligible regardless of behavior!
